THINK OUTSIDE THE (BIG) BOX.

For the love of books.
If you’re a Book Sense fan, you already know that your local independent bookstore is the place where you’re sure to discover the next great thing and meet someone to discuss it with. The IndieBound movement invites you to share your passion with the world…and we’ll help.

Get on board.
IndieBound.org is the central hub of the IndieBound movement. Check out the bestselling books in independent bookstores across America—and order from the store nearest you. Sign the Declaration of IndieBound—and share it with your friends. Download banners, blinkies, and more to help spread the word about the importance of shopping local. And, as the site grows, it will become a way to meet other indie fans and swap facts about your favorite local businesses. We'll be adding all kinds of things to the site, so check back often, and sign up for email updates in the top right corner of the site.

Everybody loves cool stuff.
Everyone has their favorite T-shirts, coffee mugs, and bumper stickers. It’s how we express who we are, and what we stand for. With IndieBound merchandise, you not only get cool stuff, but you declare your dedication to shopping local, to diversity, and to community building. And ask your local independent bookstore about free stickers, bookmarks, buttons, and more.

What are the new venues for booksellers’ recommendations?

Will I still be able to find local stores, and shop through Book Sense stores online?
Yes. IndieBound.org features a faster, richer Store Finder service, and your shopping experience through your favorite indie bookstore's website will remain the same.

Can I still use my Book Sense Gift Card?
Absolutely. Your Book Sense Gift Card will live on: no expiration date, no inactivity fee, no other fees of any kind. And you can still buy the same easy-to-use gift cards from your local indie bookseller, in person or online. Only the name has changed: Book Sense Gift Cards are now ABA Gift Cards.

I’m a fan or employee of a terrific local independent store—but it’s not a bookstore. Can this store participate in IndieBound, too?
You bet! IndieBound is about celebrating independence and sustainable economies at every level. Talk to your local bookstore, or email IndieInfo@bookweb.org to find out how to get “We’re IndieBound” window decals and other great IndieBound stuff.
