Undeliverable Emails

We have received several concerned emails from members regarding an increase in "Undeliverable Emails".  Though such emails have always been sent, we believe you may be seeing an increase in conjunction with the increase in fraudulent orders we’ve seen, as the majority of recipient emails have looked to be false email addresses.

Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do to prevent people from creating these accounts; you could enable CAPTCHA on the user registration page of your site, but even that cannot stop this altogether.

While we intend to look into other ways of handling this, we urge you to continue to watch out for fraudulent orders and refer to “Fraudulent Orders"  for tips on what to look for and how to respond to them..

As for the ‘Undeliverable Email Notification’ itself, although they may look complicated they are fairly easy to decipher and we’ve highlighted some key parts of one below. Typically, they will always include who the email was going to, why it couldn’t be delivered and what the content of the original email was.

Do you have to take action? Not necessarily. We recommend reviewing the emailing and seeing if anything jumps out at you. Did your regular customer Bob Smith register for your site and include 2 B’s in his email address by accident? (ex. BobbSmith@somewhere.com) If so, by all means, copy and paste the original email into a new email and send it to the correct email address. If nothing  jumps out, you don’t HAVE to do anything. Chances are, if it’s a legitimate customer and they don’t receive an email they expect to, they’ll reach out to you.
