Booksellers looking for an easy way to promote Independent Bookstore Day, which will be held this year on April 29, can now order the Bookstore Day Marketing-in-a-Mailer. Each mailer contains signage of various sizes, a window sticker, teasers, shelf-talkers, and balloons. The mailer is $19 and must be ordered by March 1.
Booksellers can also order a free Little Golden Books event kit, which includes an eight-page activity brochure, “Create Your Own Little Golden Book” mini books, sticker sheets, and Poky Little Puppy pouches. Orders are due March 10.
This year, Independent Bookstore Day has partnered with Libro.fm and audiobook publishers to give bookstores the opportunity to offer certificates for free audiobooks to their customers on April 29.
The audiobook giveaway is available to all stores participating in Independent Bookstore Day. Stores that currently partner with Libro.fm will automatically be enrolled to offer the complimentary audiobooks; all other stores can contact Libro.fm’s Mark Pearson.
Titles available will include The Women in the Castle, by Jessica Shattuck (HarperCollins); “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again,” an essay by David Foster Wallace (Hachette); Dentists Without Borders, written and read by David Sedaris (Hachette); “The Ring of the King” from Nelson Mandela’s Favorite African Folktales, read by Alan Rickman (Hachette); and Shadow House #1 and Tomb Quest: Book of the Dead, by Michael Northrop (Scholastic).
Independent Bookstore Day T-shirts are running out, so booksellers who are planning to sell them or who want to order them for their staff should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (415) 561-7686, ext. 101, by March 1. Tote bags featuring a design by Lisa Brown are still available for order. Stores that ordered free Independent Bookstore Day bookmarks will receive them in ABA’s March Red Box mailing.
