Ingram’s “Indies by the Fireside” offers all attendees at the American Booksellers Association’s 2019 Winter Institute an opportunity to relax and chat by the fire with independent booksellers and publishers from around the country and the globe.
From 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, in the Albuquerque Convention Center’s La Sala, chat with publishers and editors, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, pick up a limited-edition mug, enter to win a Wi15 scholarship, and browse an array of books loved by Ingram staff. The Indies by the Fireside display will be available through the Ingram party on Wednesday evening. Visit www.ingramcontent.com/wi14 for complete details.
“Indies by the Fireside” came about following a conversation between Ingram and ABA at last year’s Winter Institute in Memphis. “The discussion led to how we could experiment with creating more serendipitous moments for publishers and booksellers to talk about books,” said Phil Ollila, chief content officer of Ingram Content Group.
“We’re delighted to be experimenting with our friends at Ingram on this, and if it’s a success, to figure out how to grow it in the future,” said ABA CEO Oren Teicher. “The secret sauce, if you will, about the Winter Institute is the combination of lots of concentrated discussion about the business of bookselling, along with multiple opportunities to talk about the actual books stores will be selling in the months to come. Anyone who has ever spent any time with a bookseller knows that booksellers want to talk about books, and we’re fully expecting that Indies by the Fireside will provide an additional opportunity at Wi14 to do so.”
The 2019 Winter Institute is sponsored by Ingram Content Group and publishers large and small. See the full Winter Institute program here. Questions about Wi14 can be sent to email@example.com.
