Nominees were announced, on March 14, for the 2002 James Beard Foundation Awards, now in their 12th year. The announcement was made at a reception held at the historic James Beard House in Greenwich Village, New York.
Nominees were named in 53 categories for cookbooks, restaurants and chefs, restaurant design, journalism, and broadcast media. More than 1,600 food and beverage industry leaders will attend the awards gala on May 6, at the New York Marriott Marquis.
Nominees in the general cookbook category are:
- Back to the Table, by Art Smith (Hyperion)
- How to Cook, by Delia Smith (DK Publishing)
- The All New Good Housekeeping Cookbook, by Susan Westmoreland (Hearst Books)
