The American Booksellers Association education session “Indie Bookstores and the New Localism: What You Can Do,” presented at each of this season’s nine Booksellers Forums, features short video clips on various topics explored at the “The New Localism” session at Winter Institute 11. Those video clips are now available on ABA’s YouTube channel along with the entire 42-minute video of the New Localism discussion at Wi11. The panel, moderated by ABA CEO Oren Teicher, featured Matt Cunningham and Dan Houston of Civic Economics, Joe Minicozzi of Urban3, and Stacy Mitchell of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

Booksellers are also encouraged to check out ABA’s New Localism Toolkit, which launched at Wi11 and is featured in the Booksellers Forum program. The digital toolkit is designed to help booksellers better communicate with customers and fellow businesspeople, and to become stronger advocates in support of public policy that promotes vibrant and diverse communities.
